Control Type 2 Diabetes
in 9 Healthy Steps

Learning how to control type 2 diabetes is about keeping normal range blood sugar levels... and reducing the risk of complications such as heart disease, blindness, and damage to your feet and other extremities. Let's switch your life back onto a healthy path. This is diabetes control for life - step by step.

I'm assuming here that you have been diagnosed with diabetes, specifically type 2 diabetes since it is most common.

The good news is that type 2 diabetes is controllable... if you are a take-charge type of person and you are serious about your health. The American Diabetes Association mentioned a study that was done with diabetic patients who were on a program to control diabetes naturally.

The results showed that having a tight control over your blood sugar did not eliminate, but significantly reduced the risk of developing further complications such as nerve damage, kidney disease and diabetic eye disease.

The bad news? Most people are not proactive with their health... hence the problem with obesity and disease in the world.

I am hoping that you are the proactive type... so, let's learn how to control type 2 diabetes in 9 healthy steps...

Control Type 2 Diabetes in 9 Healthy Steps

  1. Read and learn as much as you can about type 2 diabetes.

  2. Keep your blood glucose level as close to normal as possible. You may have to measure your blood sugar levels more often.

  3. Be aware of type 2 diabetes symptoms, especially hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Understanding these issues can help you manage your blood sugar and help prevent serious problems.

  4. For help with diet controlled diabetes, get on a healthy, low glycemic diet.

  5. Start an exercise program with the goal of losing weight. This can help reduce insulin resistance. It can also be a good stress-reducer.

  6. Start a high quality nutritional supplement program.

  7. Check yourself out... brush and floss your teeth regularly and check your feet often for cuts and sores. Also pay attention to any changes in your eyesight.

  8. Don't try to control type 2 diabetes on your own. Be sure to have a good medical/health team who understands your situation.

  9. Report your status and any changes to your medical team/doctor.

Having this type of control over your diabetes may not be for you.

The American Diabetes Association suggests that specific people not try to keep their diabetes under tight control on their own, especially children under 13, elderly people and people who already have complications because of the disease.

See your doctor to be sure.
